RELIGIOUS FORMATION

Religious Formation

The parish is the center of faith formation for Catholics. Every person in your pews, every Catholic in your parish community…child or adult…is on their own journey toward Christ and a life of discipleship.

Sacrament of Baptism - Infants (0 - 6 years)

Our Baptism program helps to prepare parents and godparents as spiritual guides for the child. Classes are designed so participants gain a deep understanding of what the Church expects of them regarding their commitment to the Church and the spiritual life of the child.

Pre-baptismal Classes are on Zoom.  Parents are required to attend two classes and god-parents at one of the classes with the parents. The Baptism Team will coordinate schedules with parents once the paperwork is in order.

Welcome to the Catholic Faith Formation program (CFF). Our CFF program is an ongoing instruction for children from Kindergarten through 7th grade level.

The second year of our program is dedicated to First Reconciliation and First Communion. (See Holy Communion info below)

The purpose of this program is to follow Christ’s call “to proclaim the Good News everywhere in the world and to hand his message on to successive generations by professing, living and celebrating the faith…” (National Directory for Catechesis #15). In our parish, the pastor, working with parents and those in catechetical ministry, plans and carries out this catechetical mission.

Our parish catechetical program begins in September on Sundays after Catechetical Sunday. Parents are welcome to register their children at the start of the catechetical year which begins in September.

Sacrament Preparation of Reconciliation and Holy Communion

Holy Communion preparation is precisely for those children who are ready to receive Jesus in the Eucharist.

This is a two-year program (within our CFF Program) and at the end of the second year the child will be prepared to receive the Reconciliation and the Holy Communion Sacraments.

Please note: After Holy Communion catholic education tapers off, but our CFF program continues through the 7th grade.

Sacrament Preparation for Confirmation

Welcome to Confirmation, the second sacrament of Christian Initiation.

It is called Confirmation because it confirms and strengthens baptismal grace. It is conferred by "the anointing with Sacred Chrism (oil mixed with balsam and consecrated by the bishop), which is done by the laying on of the hand of the minister who pronounces the sacramental words proper to the rite." These words refer to the gift of the Holy Spirit. Through the sacrament the grace given in baptism is "strengthened and deepened." Like baptism, confirmation is also received only once, and the recipient must be in a state of grace (meaning free from any known unconfessed mortal sin) in order to receive its effects.

This is a two-year Sacramental Preparation Program serving Catholic teens of our parish community enrolled in grades 8 through high school. It includes regular participation in Sunday Mass as well as Classes approximately twice a month, Liturgical Celebrations, Volunteer Service Opportunities, Diocesan Youth Events and a 2nd year Retreat Weekend, all designed to prepare teen candidates to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation by helping them come to "Know, Love and Live our Catholic Identity." Parent participation is required.

Adult Faith Formation (RCIA)

Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA) – preparation of children from age 9 and adults for Catholic Sacraments.

if you are searching for God? Interested in becoming a Catholic? Do you want to complete what your baptism began, and prepare for Eucharist and Confirmation?  Christian Initiation of Adults may be the answer...

Christian Initiation of Adults is an open-ended process to warmly welcome new members and provide spiritual formation according to each person’s needs. The process includes small and large group meetings, discussion, individual and group prayer, and liturgies and rites celebrated within our faith community. Participants reflect on Scripture, uncover their faith stories and learn to recognize themselves and God’s action in their lives, while exploring the teachings of the Church and its application to their own lives.

The process is designed for those who have never been baptized or can assist those baptized in another Christian tradition or Catholics who have never received Eucharist and Confirmation in their preparation for sacraments.
