Founded by the Blessed Michael McGivney known as the protector of Christian Family Life and an Apostle to the young, the Knights of Columbus participate actively in the life of the Church and of the individual parishes. The Knights of Columbus are a Fraternal Catholic Men's organization who serves the Catholic Church. They are faithful to the magisterium of the Church and practice catholic faith in their day-to-day life.
Council 1658 of St. Philip Neri-St. Albert the Great Parish provides scholarships to St. Philip Neri School, conducts fundraisers to provide the needs of our parish and assist wherever help is needed. We meet on the second Wednesday every other month.

WHAT WE DO: The St Vincent de Paul mission is to provide direct assistance to anyone suffering or in need. Through Home Visits, we offer a lifeline to those in need of food, clothing, rental assistance, utility assistance and shelter. The motto of the St. Vincent de Paul Society is “no act of charity is foreign to the Society”.
WE CAN HELP: St Vincent de Paul offers services throughout our parish and Alameda County:
• Food Assistance – We provide Food Certificates to families in need.
• SVDP Dining Room – Our Oakland facility provides a hot meal 5 days a week (Tues-Sat).
• Help prepare and donate food to families in need.
• Christmas – We assist our Parish with the Christmas Giving Tree and the distribution of clothing and Christmas presents.

MISSION:
Urged by the loving example of Christ and the needs of refugees in today's world, we welcome and accompany those who have been displaced as they resettle into a new countryr and a new community.
The Alameda Deanery Welcome the Stranger Refugee Suport Tean ("WTS"), in existence since February 2016, began in response to the call from Pope Francis, to take on the ministry of accompanying refugees in their resettlement inot Alameda and surrounding communities.
In this "accoumpaniment," WTS helps refugees to finda housing, set-up the gousing for immediate occupancy, and assist with gousing financial support, We facilitate the family's entrance into education programs and the world of public transportation, as well as assisting with transportation to medical and other appointments. WTS provides support in securing employment, guiding the family through the local, stqate, and federal social services networks, and in helping in the development of transition plans for finding long term housing. The Committee members provide overall accoumpaniment to the refugee family in their transition to becoming successful members of their new communities.

The Italian Catholic Federation (ICF) is a family-oriented, non-profit fraternal organization dedicated to promoting activities that build faith and family spirit and bring men, women and children of all ages together. By joining a local branch, ICF members share their culture, heritage and religious beliefs. We believe that together we accomplish more than one can alone. We are active in various cultural events throughout the country, support our local parishes, and provide various charities with financial and other support.
Alameda's Chapter is ICF #10. Members assist the parishes, pastors, and local communities. It often helps local pastors with various parish projects and fundraisers. Our members are often active in parish councils, finance committees, and other Catholic organizations. The ICF is an example of the laity’s participation in the apostolic mission of the Catholic Church.

SPRED assists parishes in the Diocese of Oakland reach out and integrate children, teens, and adults with special needs into the parish family. Volunteer catechists play a vital role in assisting individuals with autism, intellectual disabilities.
Legion of Mary was founded by Frank Duff on September 7, 1921, in Ireland. The object of the society is the glory of God through the holiness of its members developed by prayer and active co-operation, under ecclesiastical guidance, in Mary’s and the Church’s work of crushing the head of the serpent and advancing the reign of Christ.
The group shows their love and devotion to Our Blessed Mother Mary by praying the Rosary and live the life of faith and virtues of Mary in their life. They also participate in the apostolate of spreading the Gospel by family visit and works of charity.
Volunteers who care for and beautify the grounds and church.
Responsible for the preparation and care of the altar linens. This includes the washing and ironing of purificators, corporals, and altar linens.
This group of faithful help is in the Sanctuary, especially for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist and other liturgical services. They oversee the smoothe running of the liturgy.
Duties include preparing the Altar for Mass and cleaning the Altar following Mass.
Ministers of Communion, along with the priest and, on occasion, the deacon, assist with the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ to the assembly during Mass. Training is provided.
The following are the qualifications for this ministry:
- Must be a practicing Catholic, and fully initiated (have received Baptism, Confirmation, and First Holy Communion)
- A registered parishioner of St.Philip Neri or St. Albert the Great
- 16 years of age or older, with a mature demeanor and a willingness to serve fellow parishioners
- Attendance at scheduled training opportunities
The Lector is a reader who proclaims the Scriptures at Mass and other services. In the absence of "an instituted lector" a layperson may be commissioned to proclaim the readings from the Sacred Schripture. To perform this ministry one should receive careful proparation, so that the faithful by listening to the readins from the sacred texts may develop in their hearts a warm and living love for Sacred Scripture.
It is required that the Lector Minister be a fully initiated Catholic living in communion with the Church; thus, received both First Holy Communion and Confirmation.
In this important ministry parish volunteers warmly welcome parishioners as they enter the Church for Mass.
Following Christ's examples of welcoming all with open arms, our hospitality ministers (Greeters and Ushers) open doors and warmly greet all who come to worship with us. Serving as a Greeter or Usher is a wonderful opportunity to get to know other parishioners. Interested individuals and families should be hospitable, have the ability to see the needs of others and respond to them, and be welcoming.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Greeting parishioners
- Collecting the offertory
- Guiding parishioners during Communion
- Choosing a family to take up the gifts
- Serving as hosts to answer questions
- Cleaning up the Church before the next Mass
- Distributing handouts before and after Mass, including the Bulletin
- Making sure the church is closed up
This ministry plays a crucial role as visible signs of Christ's unconditional love in the church. They distribute materials related to the service, assist people for seating, coordinates the church collections, and oversees the celebration of the Holy Euchaist.
The mission of the Altar Server Ministry is to provide an opportunity for young children to actively participate in the tradition of Catholic worship. As Altar Servers these children assist the priests and deacons with processions blessings, rituals, etc during the celebration of Mass and other Sacred ceremonies.
We welcome all interested parish young children who are in 4th grade and above ahd have already received the sacrament of First Holy Communion.
Training is generally provided once a ;year. Trained Altar Serviers are then scheduled for serving at Mass. Regular calendar notifications are issued direcctly to Alter Srvers.
An 'Altar Appareciation Day' with fun, game, and food is arranged once a year to enjoy and develop as a team.
The Music Ministry supports the prayer of the people. Musicians, whether voice or instrument, offer their time and talent to the most important pray of the church.
Cantor: The Cantors are those who provide musical leadership to the assembly during the celebration of the Eucharist through leading the sung prayer.

SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM - INFANTS (O - 6 years): Our Baptism program helps to prepare parents and godparents as spiritual guides for the child. Classes are designed so participants gain a deep understanding of what the Church expects of them regarding their commitment to the Church and the spiritual life of the child.
Pre-baptismal Classes are in-person. Parents are required to attend two in-person classes and god-parents at one of the classes with the parents. The Baptism Team will coordinate schedules with parents once the paperwork is in order.

Christian Initiation of Adults is an open-ended process to warmly welcome new members and provide spiritual formation according to each person’s needs. The process includes small and large group meetings, discussion, individual and group prayer, and liturgies and rites celebrated within our faith community. Participants reflect on Scripture, uncover their faith stories and learn to recognize themselves and God’s action in their lives, while exploring the teachings of the Church and its application to their own lives.
The process is designed for those who have never been baptized or can assist those baptized in another Christian tradition or Catholics who have never received Eucharist and Confirmation in their preparation for sacraments.
